Wannabe Chef

I haven't blogged for ages. If there are any of you out there that actually like reading my posts, I apologize. I have been especially busy lately since spring semester started and I decided to take full time classes while working 40 hours a week. Don't worry, it sounds a lot worse than it actually is. I don't feel all that stressed out or anything, I just don't have much free time. When I do have free time lately, however, I have enjoyed perfecting recipies of my favorite foods.

Remember that Pizza post that I did a while ago? That pizza was childs play. I have perfected the stuffed crust pepperoni-olive-jalapeno pizza. MMMMMMMMMMboy. I will post the recipe when I remember to bring it.
Another thing that isn't hard at all and I haven't perfected by any means is the homemade rootbeer. It's more fun making it than it is satisfying to drink. It's good, but after a glass the amount of sugar gives me a retched stomach ache. I think we need to buy some popsicle molds for the leftovers.

Homemade rootbeer makes me so excited!!

This last dish that I have been trying to perfect for the past week is orange chicken. The first time I tried it was a disaster. the coating on the chicken DID NOT stick and it was chicken with chunks of fried cornstarch with vegetibles. Not great. I then learned how to get the chicken fried perfect (after smoking our apartment out) and yesterday I made orange chicken from scratch. Do you have any idea how long it takes to make??? My stars. Too long. I seriously spent about and hour and a half of actual chopping and measuring and stir-frying and all that jazz... and it came out only okay. Not anything that impressive. I kind of want to try it again, but it is just a bit too involved. Maybe if I have two hours open and I'm bored. If any of you have a killer orange chicken recipe I would like to try it!This poor-quality photo makes this chicken look MM-MM GOOD!

Zak, will you give Gary lessons? Or I guess you can give me lessons - that way I can wear the apron Jen gave me. So cute!

Yeah, that jalapeno, olive, pepperoni pizza WAS really good. I think you are going to have to invite us over again because it was that good.
